Amicalola Falls

I went to this falls in June of 2006. It is the largest falls east of the Mississippi River and well worth a visit. It is about 20 miles west of Dahlonega and there is a $2 entrance fee. There is a walk of about half a mile to the falls and it is fairly steep at points. Getting someone in a wheelchair to see the falls would be a challenge, and in the end there are a couple hundred steps one has to climb to get to the viewing platform. For the hearty soul, there is a climb of an additional 450 steps to get to the top of the falls, but one can also drive to the top. At the top, there is a nice picnic grounds. I was lucky enough to hear a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak while on my walk up to the falls. It was lovely.
