Horse Trough Falls

This falls is one of the more spectacular falls in north Georgia and really not to be missed. The drop is about 70 feet. It is located near Unicoi Gap in the Chattahoochee campgrounds. There is a five mile drive on a graveled forest service road with breathtaking views of the mountains and you even pass by a small waterfall along the road. The hike to the falls is very short and there is a viewing platform. It is fairly easy to climb over the platform and get closer access to the falls, however. Be careful on those rocks! You are also very close to the source of the Chattahoochee River and you cross over it on a small bridge to get to Horse Trough Falls. If you like big waterfalls with longer drops, then Horse Trough is one you should put on your list. |
