Raven Cliff Falls

These falls are simply spectacular! Anyone interested in falls in North Georgia should definitely plan an outing to see these falls. There are actually three "official" falls along the trail to reach the final, upper falls. Pictures of each falls are below. Be advised, however, that the trail is 2.5 miles one way to reach the upper falls and, while the hike is beautiful the entire way, it is a long walk and the trail is often root covered and rugged. I would recommend planning a full day for the hike and visit to these falls. Don't put yourself into a position where you have to hurry through this hike because, although long, the trail will take you alongside Dodd creek for the full 2.5 miles and there are many flumes, rapids, and such to see the entire way. Reaching the final, upper falls will reward the entire journey because this waterfall is one of the most unique I have ever seen. Pictured above, it falls about 30 feet through a cutting in the side of gigantic cliffs. The cliffs alone are breathtaking and worth the trek. At the bottom of the falls is a shallow pool about 4 feet deep and they are a pleasure to wade in. You can walk directly under the falls if you wish, but the water is cold! It is impossible to describe in words the sight of these falls and pictures cannot capture the picturesque quality of the falls and the surrounding cliffs. The last bit of the hike is up a steep hill with the cliffs getting larger and you cannot even see the falls until you are almost on top of them. I have been told that the trail will take you up to the top of the cliffs but I have not tried to go up there.

There is also a rope swing at the beginning of the trail that you can swing on, if you wish. Us "manly" men should try it, as I did (see the pic below). No, I am not as bald as the picture shows! It's the darn sunlight shining on THIN hair!
